Conference Scholarships

The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) and the Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Queensland (ECCQ) are thrilled to announce the availability of scholarships for the 2024 FECCA Conference, taking place on 16 -17 October at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year's conference will be centred around "Our Experiences. Our Future." which highlights the strengths and challenges faced by culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Australia.

As part of our commitment to advocate for improved access to health and wellbeing services for Australia's culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) population, FECCA and ECCQ are offering a limited number of scholarships to individuals who are passionate about multicultural advocacy to participate and contribute to the important discussions and advancements in this field. These scholarships will cover the conference registration costs fees, and/or part of your travel and accommodation expenses.

A select number of scholarships are also available for passionate and engaged young people, aged 18-30, to attend FECCA2024. The Youth Opportunities Program, which is a new initiative at this FECCA conference, will invite participants to accessible spaces for networking and making new connections, as well as gain experience and knowledge from distinguished speakers and guests at the conference. Participants will be invited to facilitate and take part in an introductory meet-and-greet event for youth attending the conference. Throughout the conference, engagement opportunities with speakers and sessions will be offered with the intention of bringing young people to the centre of discussions and amplifying their voices.

Who should apply?

We encourage applications from individuals actively engaged in multicultural advocacy through their professional work, personal initiatives or lived experience. Whether you are a community member, multicultural community leader, service provider, researcher, community worker, advocate, conference presenter, or a student, if you have a strong interest in the experiences and future of multicultural Australia, we invite you to apply for this scholarship.

The Youth Opportunities Program is available only for applicants between the ages of 18 and 30. We are inviting young people who truly want to learn, participate and be an active part of the conference to apply for this program. This opportunity is open for students, young people looking to get involved and pursue a career in the multicultural policy space, youth leaders, and beyond. No experience is necessary to apply. Applications from youth who live in remote and rural areas, as well as First Nations folk and members of the LGBTQI+ community will be prioritized.
